Branch History
Lakeview Branch Library opened in 1949 and was built with bond money raised in 1945. Lakeview was designed by Miller and Warnecke Architectural Firm and constructed by Harry K. Jensen and cost $45,274. Built through the efforts of the community, Oakland residents have worked hard to save it in financially difficult times. In recent years Lakeview has started art galleries in both the Main Room and the Meeting Room. In addition to its art galleries, Lakeview is known for its adult programming, featuring writers, poets, dancers, musicians, yoga masters, drama, gardening and many other topics.
