Eastmont Branch Library Celebrates Ten Years in
Current Facility with Open House

*****************************************************************************************************************************************

(Oakland, CA)—The Eastmont Branch of the Oakland Public Library will commemorate its 10 th anniversary in its current location with entertainment, poetry, art, activities for children, speakers, food, and fun. All are welcome to attend this open house celebration on Saturday October 18, 2008, from 11 am to 3pm. The Eastmont Branch is located in the Eastmont Town Center, 7200 Bancroft Ave., Suite 211.

Featured entertainment includes poets Luella Dudley, David Smith, and Danjuma. Jacqueline McBride and Sharon Vaughn will sing. Praise dancers, Mexican Ballet Folklorico, and the Sun Drummers Ensemble will round out a full program of events.

The Eastmont Branch originally opened in 1945 on the corner of Parker and MacArthur Blvd. In 1983, the Baymont and Eastmont branches were consolidated in a 500-square foot kiosk in the Eastmont Mall. With a growing clientele, the current full-service, 9500 square foot branch opened in the re-named Eastmont Town Center on October 5, 1998.

For more information, please call (510) 615-5726, or see the Oakland Public Library’s Web site: www.oaklandlibrary.org. Please refrain from wearing scented products to library events. To request sign interpretation or other accommodation, please call the number above or (510) 834-7446 (TTY) at least five working days prior to the event.
