BANNED AND RECOVERED EXHIBIT OPENS
AT AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM AND LIBRARY

WHAT: Opening reception for Banned and Recovered: Artists Respond to Censorship, an exhibition at two venues, at the African American Museum and Library at Oakland (AAMLO). More than 60 artists interpret banned or challenged books in their chosen medium in response to the suppression of literary art. The exhibition at AAMLO runs from September 5 – December 31, 2008. The exhibition at the San Francisco Center for the Books runs from August 15 – November 26, 2008.
