( Oakland, CA)— Nearly 1.4 million people in California have a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medicare Prescription Drug plan. The fall election period (November 15 – December 31) is the time to consider if your policy is still the right one for you. Denise Lombard will present a three-part series, especially timed to help you meet the deadline for these changes, on three Saturdays this fall: September 27, October 18 and November 15, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., all at the Oakland Public Library’s Dimond Branch, 3565 Fruitvale Avenue.

Every year, companies that offer Medicare Advantage Plans announce changes to their plans for the next year. An Annual Notice of Change should arrive before the end of October. Significant changes may affect your monthly premium, co-payments for office visits, inpatient hospital care, outpatient surgical procedures, lab work and prescription drug co-payments. It’s up to policy-holders to figure out whether it’s best to stay put or look for a better fitting plan. Changes in plan can be made between November 15 and December 31, 2008.

Denise Lombard, an Insurance Broker based in the Montclair area, will lead these important information sessions to help policy-holders understand the variety of medical and prescription drug plans.

For more information, call the Dimond Branch at (510) 482-7844, or visit the Oakland Public Library’s Website at www.oaklandlibrary.org. To request sign interpretation or other accommodation, please contact the number above at least five working days prior to the event. The Oakland Public Library is a department of the City of Oakland.
