All personal information, such as your name, address, e-mail address, demographic data, and telephone and fax numbers, as well as your comments or other messages to the Oakland Public Library through this site are confidential. Except as described in this privacy statement, or to comply with applicable laws, valid legal process or to protect the rights or property of the City of Oakland, the Library will not disclose any personal identifiable information about our users to other agencies or organizations.

In order to improve the usefulness of our site for visitors, we automatically collect and maintain statistical information from our site's data logs that concern network traffic flow and volume. This is designed to assist the Oakland Public Library in compiling user statistics, ascertaining patron opinions and suggestions and promotion of the Library and its programs and services. Some of the databases available to you from our web site will require the bar code number from your Oakland Public Library card for verification purposes.
