All library locations will be closed on Monday February, 18, and all locations except Eastmont, Brookfield, and the Main Library will be closed on Tuesday, February 19, for President's Day.

Join the Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Oakland Public Library is an independent non-profit organization whose mission is to support the Oakland Public Library. The Friends of the Oakland Public Library (FOPL) has over 800 members and operates The Bookmark Bookstore in Old Oakland. FOPL makes annual grants for programs and projects for the entire Oakland Public Library system. Visit the FOPL website or send an email to info@fopl.org to learn more.
Many branches have a Branch friends group. Ask at your branch.
Volunteering
Library volunteers assist staff in many ways, including tutoring adult literacy students, serving as computer docents, answering informational questions, reading to preschool children, etc. Volunteers should be at least 14 years old.
Donations
We accept donations of money as well as donations of books and other items.
