Congratulations to all summer readers!
Thousands of Oakland kids (4900 and counting) have logged their days of reading this summer and met the Summer Reading Challenge of at least 20 days of reading. If you've not yet collected your prize, stop by your library soon--it's not too late. We want to congratulate each and every one of you.
The challenge officially ended last weekend, and we drew grand prize winners from the raffle. Jeremy Augman is the lucky winner of the iPad, and came with his mom to pick it up at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch Library.
The one-year family membership to Children's Fairyland was won by Natalie Garcia, shown here at the Brookfield Library.
Many additional raffle prizes have been awarded at all branches, including ukuleles! If you or someone you know could use a ukulele lesson, we have those too, courtesy of our Ukuleling Librarian Mary Dubbs. Bring your ukulele with you to Nice to Meet Uke! Beginning Ukulele on Saturday August 29th at 3:30, or Tuesday September 1st at 5:30, at the Elmhurst Branch.
Every summer reader is a winner, and we hope your summer with us has left you with many stories to remember.
