For safety reasons, libraries close when the inside temperature reaches 87 degrees. In the coming hot days, call ahead or check back here to make sure your branch is open!
Oakland Bloom: Cooking with Community + Culture
Chef Sanela Osmancevis Cooking Demonstration at the Asian Branch Library. Cooking with Community + Culture at Asian Branch Library is made possible by a grant from The Friends of the Oakland Public Library.
Sanela has worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years, from management to prep and line cooking and has been catering and working with Oakland Bloom for the past two years. As a young child in Bosnia, Sanela grew up watching a TV show called "The Streets of San Francisco". She fell in love with the city and dreamt of driving up and down the hilly streets. After leaving Bosnia due to the destruction and devastation of war, she and her two children have made Oakland their home. Her dream is to launch a restaurant or food truck business and share her love and flavors of Bosnian food with the Bay Area.
Oakland Bloom is a local non-profit organzation, made up of a diverse group of entrepreneurs, chefs, artists, community leaders and social activists whom are passionate about advancing economic equity for underserved communities.
