In partnership with Oakland Urban Paths, the Golden Gate Branch Library will host Martha C. Taylor, author of "From Labor to Reward: Black Church Beginnings in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, and Richmond, 1849-1972." 

A walking tour of Golden Gate houses of worship begins at 10:00am at St. Columba Church (6401 San Pablo Ave., Oakland). Co-led by members of the community, learn more about the role of religious centers in the neighborhood. 

When the walk ends at noon at the Library, stay for a discussion with author Rev. Dr. Martha C. Taylor on her writings and research.
