Lion Dance with the Cal VSA

Image of lion dancers at UC Berkeley

Join us for a lively morning with performers from the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) at UC Berkeley! Lion dance is a form of traditional dance in many Asian cultures, such as Vietnamese and Chinese, that incorporates martial arts and some acrobatics to mimic the mythical creature’s movements. The lion dance is usually performed around New Year’s and often at weddings because the lion is said to bring good luck and dispel evil spirits. A tradition spanning thousands of years, lion dance performances and competitions occur all around the globe. Fun for all ages.
