Telling Haiti's Story Through Two Lenses
How has Haiti changed after the 2010 7.0 magnitude earthquake? Join Opal Palmer Adisa, poet-performer, scholar and educator, who will tell of her 2012 trip to Haiti, read poems that accompany her current art exhibit at Lakeview Branch, and read excerpts from her new book, The Caribbean Writer, which is dedicated to Haiti. She will also share other photos from her trip to Haiti.
Ms. Adisa has lived and taught in the Bay Area for over 30 years. A cultural activist and performance artist, her works often explore the Caribbean and her place of birth, Jamaica. She is concerned with social issues that impact all people. She brings awareness through her poetry and creative arts.
