The Battle for North Oakland's Merritt College

In the late 1960s, African American students and community members in North Oakland joined the nationwide movement to make institutions of higher learning more representative and responsive.

Local  historian Rasheed Shabazz will deliver a talk on the protracted struggle to keep Merritt College, commonly known as home of the Black Panthers, in the North Oakland community.

This event is free and open to the public.
