THE RHYTHMS OF CUBA w/The Tumbao Quartet--- a presentation of the authentic rhythms of Cuba including the mambo, cha cha cha, rumba and bolero and its connection with American jazz.  

Members of The Tumbao Quartet will also discuss the origins of the music and life on the island. The lineup includes esteemed Cuban percussionist, Carlos Caro, bassist Rob Fisher (Pancho Sanchez, Cal Tjader) and three time Latin music Grammy nominee, pianist Murray Low, director of the Stanford University Latin Jazz Program. Fronting the band is sax/flutist Paul VornHagen co-leader of the award winning Cuban jazz combo and recording artists, Tumbao Bravo. Paul has also visited Cuba performing with members of the Buena Vista Social Club.
