See 3D Printing -- Live!

a 3D printer in action

Join a demonstration of 3D-Printing at the Oakland Public Library!

Currently, more than 250 libraries across the US offer 3D printers to patrons, and OPL is about to join the crowd! We will be demonstrating the use of a MakerBot Replicator, one of the most popular hobbyist 3D printers on the market.

The demonstration session will consist of an overview of the 3D-printing process, an introduction to design software, and a 3-dimensional print!

We’ll print out SOMETHING COOL that we’ll raffle off for you to take home!

These 3D printers and demo sessions are hosted in collaboration with Acorn, a UC Berkeley based non-profit that provides STEM and design tools and training to youth around the Bay Area. The demo sessions will be hosted by the Acorn staff.

We will also debut Facebook's OCULUS RIFT, a new virtual reality toy at this event! Communicate with a robot  or walk through outer space using a simple headset.
