Shoulders to Freedom
Mai Bunla escaped the killing fields of Cambodia on the shoulders of her brother and survived the deprivations of refugee camps for years. After that harrowing series of episodes, she emigrated to the United States, earned her BA at California State University Easy Bay, secured work in Washington DC, working for the Immigration Department. She continues to seek her brother who carrier her to safety and will share her story at the Main Library during a short visit to the East Bay.
