Words of Resilience: A National Poetry Month Celebration

Join DeMareon Gipson of Forwarding Publishing House and other local poets as they read their work and have a panel discussion about the role of poetry in social justice movements.   

The following presenters have been confirmed:

DeMareon Gipson is a polymathic wordsmith from Vallejo, California who has written and published a book (“Looking Forward”) and composed a short film (“The Plan”) . His poetry won the acclaim of the Academy of American Poets. In 2017, he was awarded with the Piri Thomas Poetry Prize for his unique, provocative compositions.  

Gipson works for the Oakland Public Library, and is collaborating with his fellow staff to initiate projects that connect social justice with literature.
