Image advertising DRAFT: Gardening Basics at Oakland Public Library

What do you need to know to be a successful vegetable gardener?

This workshop, presented by Alameda County Master Gardener Aixa Gannon, will cover vegetable gardening essentials.

Topics will include:

  • the importance of selecting the planting site for sun/shade
  • improving and preparing your soil
  • watering, mulching, fertilizing
  • deciding what to plant
  • keeping pests at an acceptable level

Making the right decisions about all of these considerations will lead to a plentiful harvest!

Be sure to check out more gardening events at the Rockridge Branch this spring: Spring Plant Swap and Improving Your Soil Quality Workshop on 4/28, and Container Gardening Vegetables on 5/12.
