100 Years of Service: All-day Party at the Temescal Branch Library
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Temescal Branch Library, we will be hosting an all-day party (& FixIt Clinic) for the entire family on Saturday Dec. 8.
Temescal children's author Angela Dalton will start the festivities at 10:30 a.m. with presentations of her latest work, including If you look up to the sky (Beaver's Pond Press, 2018). So...bring the kids. (We'll have other activities for them, too.)
We will follow this with an old fashioned birthday party, starting at 2:00 p.m., with free cake! and other treats during which we will dedicate a neighborhood history archive and introduce a host of programs and activities that will launch the second century of service to the district, including an oral history project, an arts and artists program, etc.
Our partners at the FixIt Clinic will occupy the later afternoon with one of their especially useful, educational and fun clinics.
We will wrap up the festivities with musical performances by 15 Psi, a group comprised largely of members of Temescal's Marcus family followed by performances by The World, a band led by a member of the staff of the Oakland Public Library who often provides service at the Tool Lending, and a third band, Work.
Note the extended hours. Library services will end at 5:30, as usual, while we have fun in the first floor meeting room.
Produced in cooperation with the Oakland Tool Lending Library, the FixIt Clinic, Shared Ground, the Temescal Business Improvement District and the Temescal Merchants Association.
