WO to WA: West Oakland to West Africa Poetry Exchange

West Oakland to West Africa, WO to WA, is an Oakland poet group that embodies the griot exchange of spoken word by exchanging poetry with West African poets in a poetic-cultural exchange using renshi poetry. Renshi poetry takes the last line of your partner's poem and makes it the first line of your response poem.

All ages and people of all backgrounds are invited to take part in this special exchange, all that is asked is that you be willing to write to your African poetry partner once a week.

And join us for a special kick off poetry reading on Tuesday October 3 at 5pm.
