Jeff Lichtman is a photographer who lives in the East Bay. He specializes in highlighting things that are unexpectedly beautiful or interesting. He is as interested in composition as much as subject matter - that is, he is inclined to photograph things that have interesting shapes and colors regardless of what they are. His ideal subject is something that people wouldn't normally notice, but is aesthetically pleasing when looked at the right way.
All of the pictures in this exhibit were taken in this city, in neighborhoods like Jingletown, Fruitvale, Uptown, Embarcadero Cove, the Fifth Avenue Marina and West Oakland. You may have walked past some of these scenes without realizing it.
