Currently on Exhibit
This Fall, 4th and 5th grade artists at Vincent Academy, an elementary charter school in West Oakland, studied the artwork of Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama. They explored her abstract paintings, and her famous polka-dot installations that reimagine objects and spaces. Throughout their exploration of Kusama’s artwork, students created individual and collaborative abstract paintings using shapes and colors, they collaborated on large shape pattern paintings, created wearables like her polka-dot mannequins, and even painted some furniture in the art room like her famous installations. We are honored and excited to share their exploration of Yayoi Kusama's artwork. Paintings will be on display from November 2nd to December 28th. Please join us November 5th from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm for a small reception for the young artists.
