Currently on Exhibit
An exhibit of botanical art by Sally Petru, a local artist specializing in the illustration of plants will be on display throughout the month of April. Ms. Petru's body of work is done largely in watercolor though she occasionally uses pastel to create larger, looser and more colorful images. Both are featured in this exhibit.
Sally began the study of botanical illustration in 1999 through small group classes, receiving a certificate in botanical art from Filoli in Woodside. Her interest in the cross section of plants and the arts began in the 1970’s, inspired by the work of Henry Evans, a linocut artist. Her appreciation for plants was solidified with a degree in landscape architecture from UC Davis. Sally is the founding President of the Northern California Society of Botanical Artists, now serving on the board of the national organization, the American Society of Botanical Artists. She teaches, exhibits primarily in the Bay Area, and is featured in several local shops. For more information go to her website, http://www.sallypetru.com
