What: The 2nd Annual Culture Fest celebrates the abundance of Oakland cultures and attracts people to the library. Planned and hosted by the library's youth advisory board, the event will feature a variety of international food, activities and performances by Ger Youth Center's Mongolian dancers, musicians, local poets, and more. The event coincides with the start of Oakland's summer reading program. The Culture Fest is a family-friendly, all-ages event. Last year's event brought over 160 people, and this year's event is expected to attract even larger crowds.
Who: A diverse group of Oakland residents and library visitors will attend. This event is especially focusing on getting new library users and youth to come to the library. The event is conducted by the Youth Leadership Council (YLC) of the Oakland Public Library, a teen advisory board.
Who: This Culture Fest is staged to celebrate the proliferation of different cultures in Oakland, to encourage new people to enjoy the Oakland Public Library's resources, and to provide an enjoyable experience to families and individuals of all ages.
