Changes Announced at the Oakland Tool Lending Library
The Oakland Tool Lending Library is making changes to further improve our service to the public, effective immediately.
- The loan period for most tools will increase to seven days. Due dates for those tools will fall on the same day of the week as their check-outs.
- As a reminder, tools may be borrowed for an additional loan period. Up to two consecutive renewals may be made if no holds have been placed on them (online, by phone at 597-5089, or in person). Further renewals are not permitted. Overdue fines will remain at $1 to $10 per day, per tool, depending on the tool.
- A few of the more popular power tools, such as table saws or demolition hammers, will have a two-day loan period. This will help reduce the waiting list for these items. Holds can be placed on these items (except chain saws) in person or over the phone. These tools are not renewable and will incur overdue fines of $20 per day.
We reserve the right to alter the types of tools available for either loan period, and ask for your continued patience and cooperation throughout this transition. Remember, the easiest way to avoid overdue fines is to return your tools early!
