To provide help to people in need, Oakland’s Main Library, 125 14th Street, is hosting a “Care Village,” with barbers, health care professionals, and other services and benefits. The Care Village will be up and running on Monday, November 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Licensed barbers or cosmetologists will be on hand, along with the Roots Community Health Center’s Mobile Clinic, who can administer flu shots and offer other medical assistance. People are welcome to drop by for free giveaways such as hygiene packs, clothes, and a hot meal. This volunteer-led event and all services are free. Haircuts will be given on a first come, first served basis.
