Oakland, CA – The Oakland Public Library (OPL) is hosting two job fairs at the Main Library this September. OPL is conducting these job fairs in conjunction with its job seekers’ Instagram account: @oaklandhasjobs.
The Youth Job and Paid Internship Fair, open to ages 14-25, takes place Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Main Library (125 14th St., Oakland) in the Bradley C. Walters Community Room.
The Adult Job Fair, open to ages 18 and up, will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Community Room at the Main Library.
Both job fairs include on-site resume review. Attendees are encouraged to dress professionally and bring copies of an up-to-date resume. In addition, the Library has free WiFi for those who wish to complete online applications or browse the Library’s e-resources.
The Sept. 12 Youth Job and Paid Internship Fair features 24 organizations (see final list below) from diverse fields. Attendees will have the chance to find opportunities in everything from farming to technology, from customer service to radio production, as well as social justice.
The Sept. 26 Adult Job Fair includes 25 Bay Area employers from recognizable companies like AC Transit, Enterprise, FedEx and Safeway.
The six previous Youth Job and Paid Internship Fairs have attracted at least 400 youth each. OPL has created instructions and personal guidance for youth to guide them through this sometimes scary process.
