Before She Was Harriet cover

Staff member Marco Frazier reads Before She Was Harriet by Lesa Cline-Ransome (with illustrations by James E. Ransome) about the many “roles” lived by a nineteenth century heroine. Through poetic language we meet the legendary Harriet Tubman who served as an advocate for women, a spy for the Union, a nurse to wounded Civil War soldiers, and a bondswoman who conducted many enslaved persons to freedom.
