Join us for a free screening of Curtis Choy's 1983 documentary, "The Fall of the I-Hotel."

After Filipino Americans labored to build the West, their San Francisco Manilatown community was wiped out by urban renewal. Fifty old-timers were forcibly evicted from the International Hotel in 1977 when it was slated for demolition. The film documents the destruction of the last block of Manilatown on Kearny Street, as well as the community organizing that sprang up in protest.

Narrated by late poet Al Robles, "The Fall of the I-Hotel" tells the story of dozens of seniors displaced by 300 cops in the dead of night, and the overall impacts of urban renewal.
