This summer, as part of the virtual Kids' Summer Reading Program, we will celebrate a different theme each week. This week we are celebrating Pride with a LGBTQ+ Family virtual party online! Check out our schedule:

  • 10:30am: Storytime on Youtube with our children's librarians and drag queen Persia.
  • 1:00pm: Livestreamed program from Queer Kid Stuff that you can enjoy on our Facebook page (and on Youtube after the event): Raise your rainbow flag and join Lindz and Teddy for songs and stories!
  • 3:00pm: Join Dimond children's librarian Miriam on Youtube for a story about Stonewall.

Check out our children's services blog post Reach Out for Pride, featuring a digital queer reading list and a resource list of Bay area organizations and groups!

Don't forget to sign up for OPL Kids' Summer Reading! Kids who participate weekly by reading or by completing activities during the Summer can choose a free prize book and are eligible to win other prizes. Books and prizes will be distributed when we reopen. Register online or download and print a reading log by clicking on the “Kids” link at www.oaklandlibrary.org/summer.
