Lexine Alpert, a retired clinical social worker and photojournalist, has just returned from her third visit helping refugees at Moria Camp on the island of Lesvos and in Athens.

There are now more than 800,000 refugees and migrants who have crossed the Mediterranean to land in Greece.  Many are fleeing the violence of armed conflict in Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Cameroon and Afghanistan.  Others are fleeing famine and other consequences of the climate crisis.

In this talk, Lexine Alpert shares her work, which has focused on unaccompanied minors:  children who have arrived in Greece without their parents.
