OPL Kids YouTube Playlists

OPL Children's Services is excited to share our love of books and support early language development while OPL indoor areas remain closed. 

Six playlists are now available on the Oakland Public Library’s YouTube Channel for you and the children you care for to enjoy. All videos are live and available for you to enjoy now. Just click on the headings below to visit each playlist.

You can also catch these videos on our Facebook and Twitter (@oaklibrary) feeds every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:30 AM until the end of the year! 

Children's librarians created over 50 online programs for kids over the summer. Feel free to view them at your leisure.

Preschool Rhymes 

(Every other Monday starting Oct. 5)

Kids ages 3+ who master rhymes will identify sounds, vowels and consonants. These skills lay the foundation for early reading. 

Bedtime Stories 


(Every other Monday starting Oct. 12)

These 5-minute bedtime stories include are read aloud by OPL librarians for all ages.  Suggested for bedtime and available anytime. 

Hora de cuentos

Cuentos bilingües para todas las edades presentados por bibliotecarios en inglés y español. 
Bilingual Spanish Stories presented by librarians in English and Spanish for all ages. Did you know, individuals who are able to switch between languages develop more flexible approaches to thinking through problems?

Canciones y rimas

Baby Bounce 

(Every other Saturday starting Oct. 3)

Play, sing, and rhyme with your baby from birth to 18 months. The American Association of Pediatrics recommends dedicated time every day for active play.

Toddler Songs 

(Every other Saturday starting Oct. 10)

Enjoy songs and  active rhymes with your child ages 18 months – 36 months. Songs help children to identify sound patterns and learn through repetition.
