The César E. Chávez Branch TeenZone is a welcoming space for teens to enjoy their library materials, access other resources and opportunities that support their life and academic goals, meet friends, and hang out. The Chávez TeenZone was the first branch TeenZone in the Oakland Public Library system.

We offer volunteer placement for teens to complete their community service requirement. We host a regular chess clinic on Saturdays and a GameZone on Wednesdays. We also have a Teen Advisory Board that meets the first Saturday of every month.  Please check the library's event calendar for other branch programs specific to teens.

Chávez TeenZone features:

  • Computer access
  • Comfortable seating and a reading area
  • English and Spanish books, graphic novels, manga, DVDs, CDs, magazines, video games, and college preparation materials
  • Display space to showcase teen art
  • Teen Opportunities Board and binder
  • Board games for use in the library

Come visit us during regular library hours or attend one of our many teen events!
