Welcome to fabulous February at the Oakland Public Library! This month we're celebrating Lunar New Year, Valentine's Day, and the 100th Black History Month!
Black History Month
We have dance workshops, art exhibits, family activities, and more for Black History Month! We're really excited about Black anime watch party for teens at Eastmont, DIY waistbead making at the 81st Ave. and Martin Luther King Jr. Branch, and musical performances by students of the Oakland School for the Arts. That's not to mention our booklist inspired by the Saint Heron's Library, our 28 days of Black Librarians blog, and favorite African American artists blog.
Lunar New Year
For Lunar New Year, we'll have lion dances, crafts, movie screenings, spring roll demo, and a grand celebration at the Main Library! When you stop by, check out some books to read with your little ones for to celebrate Lunar New Year at home.
Valentine's Day
Enjoy this special holiday by making Valentine's Day themed crafts together as a family. Or take yourself on a library date!
