Cooking

Check out the Oakland Public Library Cooking page, which includes cookbook recommendations for aspiring chefs of all ages.
In addition, the 81st Avenue Branch offers cooking classes the last Friday of the month.
The West Oakland Branch hosts the Taste of West program, where they have live recipe demos featuring in-season ingredients. The program usually occurs twice a month, with the next one scheduled for January 23rd. 10 households will receive the ingredients for free to recreate the delicious recipes at home.
The Teen Magazine: A list of cooking essentials, but please know that you do not need to have all of these items to start cooking.
Nature
This is a wonderful list of resources to go on outdoor adventures. The list includes information about backpacks available for check out at the Oakland Public Library. It also includes information about some challenges that you can join along with your friends and/or by yourself.

Oakland Public Library loves bikes!
Bike locks and tire pumps are available to use at almost all branches.
In addition, the 81st Avenue Branch and the Tool Lending Library have bike repair stations, Bicycle Flat Tire Tool Kits, and Bicycle Brake and Drive Chain Tool Kits available for check out with your library card.
