Photographs depicting the activities of the Oakland Chapter of the American Red Cross in the 1940s-1950s; mainly scenes of Red Cross workers and volunteers on the home front and overseas during World War II, and scenes of Oakland Chapter volunteer recognition ceremonies in the 1950s. The collection also includes photos depicting Red Cross disaster responses to a 1990 wharf fire in Richmond, Calif., and to a 1990 fraternity fire at the University of California, Berkeley.
