Newspaper clippings, reports, and investigatory documents relating to the January, 1979, BART Transbay Tube fire which led to the death of an Oakland fire fighter. Response to the fire was delayed by lack of coordination between BART and the fire departments of San Francisco and Oakland and the lessons learned were instrumental in developing the National Fire Protection Association transit industry guidelines.
