This collection contains assorted documents and newspaper articles concerning the proposal to build a bridge, commonly referred to as the "Southern crossing," to the south of the existing San Francisco-Oakland Bay bridge. Always controversial, the proposal was rejected by Bay Area voters in the June 1972 primary election.
