Oakland, CA – The Oakland Public Library is pleased to announce a series of Meet the Author events at the Rockridge Branch Library (5366 College Avenue). Meet the Author events feature dynamic interviews designed to showcase local authors, highlight their new book releases, and engage the community in topical conversation around books. All events are free and open to the public.

“Oakland's greatest resource is the talent and intelligence of its citizens,” said Brian Guenther, Senior Librarian and Rockridge Branch Library Manager. “This series is a celebration of the diverse voices that make up our community. Participants will come away from each event enriched, inspired, and informed.”

The spring Meet the Author series includes an array of authors from different genres. Guests include author and founder of Homeroom Mac & Cheese, Erin Wade discussing her new book: The Mac & Cheese Millionaire and KQED's Alexis Madrigal, author of the new book: The Pacific Circuit: A Globalized Account of the Battle for the Soul of an American City. Author Kazu Hago’s Fierce Vulnerability: Healing from Trauma, Emerging through Collapse brings opportunity to address and discuss current crucial issues. In addition, our Meet the Author series concludes with authors Emile Suotonye DeWeaver (Ghost in the Criminal Justice Machine) and Lenore Anderson (In Their Names) as they discuss the timely topic of the criminal justice system and mass incarceration.

Each author talk will be followed by a book signing. Books will be made available for purchase by A Great Good Place for Books. Meet the Author series is sponsored by the Friends of the Rockridge Library.
