Tea-ology 101

Join us for the love of tea and celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The Asian Branch Library will be hosting a tea brewing demonstration with some participation from the audience and tea samples to try. Through our partnership with Oakland Bloom, we invited Chef Kit, a Hong Kong native, to share the knowledge and art of brewing Hong Kong-style milk tea and traditional herbal tea. At the end of the program, each participant will have a tea or a milk tea drink to bring home while supplies last. The tea drinks may contain milk and other allergens.

Oakland Bloom is a nonprofit organization that empowers and supports those who identify as low-income, BIPOC, immigrant, and refugees by helping these chefs jumpstart their businesses. Their work is grounded in restorative economics, racial equity, and social justice. Oakland Bloom aims to build a holistic community pathway for access and opportunity that is accessible and inclusive while honoring and uplifting legacies.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of Asian Library.
