Welcome to magnificent May at the Oakland Public Library! We’re celebrating AAPI Heritage Month and the start of Summer Reading. 🤩 We also host HUNDREDS of free events every month so here are the highlights:
Summer reading starts May 25! Sign up on Beanstack to track your daily reading. All ages can participate.
For Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) HeritageMonth, look forward to some Māori Mo Ake Tonu performances, a lesson on the history of eastern medicine, and great book recommendations.
Gather at Lakeview Branch Library to connect with other new moms about navigating postpartum and new parenthood.
Spring into warm-weather activities like Bike Wherever Day, gardening workshops, and spring-themed crafts like making bookmarks out of dried flowers.
We’re also collaborating with Oakland Bloom and chef Alia Fakhry to bring you a special wellness class about fermentation... with free jars of saurekraut to take home! (limited supply)
