This week's theme, borrowed from the City of Oakland Department of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Development: Town Carnival.
As we wrap up the summer, we're gearing up for the End of Summer Celebration at the Main Library. Please join us on Saturday, August 2nd from 11AM to 3PM for music, activities, and lots of fun for kids and families! And remember to turn in your completed gameboards for the Summer Reading game, so you get your free prize book and a chance to win one of the raffle prizes.
Other festivities this week:
- Bay Area favorite Unique Derique entertains and informs with his body percussion act (@Eastmont, Lakeview, and 81st Avenue branches)
- Bring the littles to play outside in the garden (@Melrose branch, Mondays, 11:00) and stay for lunch afterward
- Señor Elefante brings play, puppets, and song to the Chavez branch (Tuesday, 1:30)
- Check out programs for all ages (and continuing after summer ends!) on our events calendar.
Think about a fun memory. Try to tell it like a story.
With thrills, big lights and sounds, and surprises galore, the carnival is the place to be! Whether it's Mardi Gras, Pride, Juneteenth, Powwow, or Carnaval, wear your most fabulous outfit and prepare to party.
