This week's theme, borrowed from the City of Oakland Department of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Development: Wildcard Week.
What caught you by surprise this summer? Don't let it be the end of summer prize raffle! Get your completed gameboards turned in so that your name can be in the drawing -- YOU might be the winner of one of the grand prizes, like a Nintendo Switch! There are lots of other prizes as well, being handed out at the library branches, but you have to participate to win.
Other pleasant surprises this week include:
- a magic show from Perry Yan (@Lakeview branch, Thursday 10:30) or a Magic: the Gathering circle (@Main Library TeenZone Sundays 2:00)
- a puppet show from Puppet Art Theater Co. (@West Oakland branch, Wednesday 2:00)
- decorating ducks (@Chavez branch, Friday 2:30)
- STEM experimentation with the Try It Truck (@Main Library, Friday 12:00)
- Insect Discovery Lab -- this one might be a toss-up, but let's find out! (@Main Library and Asian branch)
- weird and wacky poster art on exhibit at the Main Library's Oakland History Center
- ...and more programs for all ages on our events calendar.
Create your own cute characters. What story would they be in?
Watch out for the unexpected! For example -- could YOU win the prize raffle at the end of the summer?
