Welcome to a decidedly delightful December at the Oakland Public Library! We're excited to celebrate the winter holiday season by bringing you so many FREE community programs fit for the whole family!
 

Complete any 5 activities in a row between December 20, 2025 and January 20, 2026 and win a prize book. 

Winter Bingo is a fun family literacy activity recommended for kids ages 0-14.

To play :

Build your own gingerbread houses with graham crackers and candy (supplies provided). Stop by on December 3rd at the and December 20th
 

Free food, haircuts, clothes, resources, and more!

Get some:

  • Pantry goods
  • New and gently used clothing, jackets, blankets and toys!
  • Shoes and accessories for all ages
  • Diapers (limited supply)
  • Free Hair cuts!
  • Resources
  • Pastries and refreshments

We encourage folks to bring their own reusable bags

 
 

Holiday leftovers are delicious, but can quickly become boring. Chef Terry shows you exciting recipes that turn your leftovers into flavorful new dishes.

The Winter Solstice is the perfect time of year to celebrate light! Make a paper lantern to share a little light with others. 

Medical Tea Making

Participants will learn the basics of cold and flu prevention and how to care for oneself when sick with medicinal teas and homemade herbal recipes. 

Recipes include a Breathe Easy Oil blend and an Elderberry Cordial Cough Tonic. Handouts with recipes and information on herbs will be provided. We will also make one product to take home.
