In order to increase the public’s access to community library branches, Oakland Public Library will be adding Sunday hours to two libraries beginning on January 9th, 2022.
Beginning that day, the 81st Avenue Branch will resume pre-pandemic Sunday hours and the César E. Chávez Branch will be adding Sunday hours, increasing their open days to seven days a week.
Both branches will be open from 10am - 5:30pm every Sunday.
All other locations will keep their current schedules. You can always find information about library locations and schedules on our website.
Director of Library Services,Jamie Turbak, explains, “Adding Sunday hours at these two branches provides more equitable access to library services across Oakland, ensuring that wherever you live, whatever day of the week it is, there is an open library you can reach. With our new website and an increase in digital services as well, the library hopes to continue to better serve the public wherever they are, whenever it is."
