Oakland, CA – The Oakland Public Library is delighted to announce a special Open House event to celebrate the newly remodeled Main Library.
This community event will feature tours of the newly renovated spaces, special programs, and family-friendly activities. All are welcome to attend.
“We’re looking forward to reintroducing the unique resources and services available at the Library,” said Library Director Jamie Turbak. "In a time of so much uncertainty and change at the local and national level, we are excited to gather and connect with our Oakland community in our historic, revitalized space.”
The day of festivities includes programs with unique local organizations and individuals, offering activities including a DJing workshop, Zumba jam, and poetry reading and workshop with Oakland Youth Poet Laureate Ella Gordon, plus a Lion Dance performance to bring in good luck and prosperity for the new year. In addition, we’ll honor a new public art installation by Civic Design Studio featuring designs from Oakland International High students.
Along with programs, participants can take part in a scavenger hunt and Black History Bingo to win prizes, and enjoy a photo booth, and snacks.
