Write
You can:
- Write a letter to a kid in detention, opens a new window (especially if you can write in Spanish);
- Write a letter to your principal or the school board about an issue in your school (you can find your school board members, opens a new window online);
- Or write to one of your political representatives for help with an issue in your community (you can find the Oakland City Council members, opens a new window online).
What do you want to be different?
Come talk to your children’s librarian to tell us what kinds of activism you’re interested in trying out this summer—maybe you’ll find someone to connect with and you can start a band together, make posters for a protest, volunteer with an organization, or help your neighbors!
